A knock-out competition over 4 rounds, held in conjunction with both the 10km and 3.5km handicaps. There is a separate competition for each handicap.
You only have to show up and run to the best of your ability on your regular handicap morning. All current, qualified handicap runners will be automatically entered.
For the 3.5k, the Cup will start with the April handicap and finish with the competition in July.
The July finish is for reason that the August 3.5k handicap is scheduled for the day before the City to Surf.
For the 10k, the Cup will start with the April handicap and finish with the competition in August.
The May 10k will not be a Saunders Cup round; it is the day prior to the Half Marathon.
Runners are randomly matched up in groups of four in the first two rounds. The top finishing two in each group will move forward to the next round.
For round 3, the matching will be in pairs, with the winners to proceed to the final round.
Winners are determined by the highest finishing positions in the handicap.
