February 5@theLake Race Report
The cool evenings and mornings of recent days enabled very favourable running conditions, and the number of pbs reflected this. So different from the high humidity of last month which discouraged the happiest running and when only the one pb resulted.
We had 61 starters, the best starting number for the 5@theLake; the previous best having been 59 back in October’15. We welcomed a number of first-time visitors, and 11 had their first run in the 5k.
12pbs. There were 12 pbs and all achievers are to be congratulated, with a couple for special mention.
Chandra Gurung’s best had stood at 22:48 ran in April’18; he has now ran his 3rd pb in 4 runs this series; on those 3 occasions each time he has dropped his pb by 20secs, and that now sits at 21:46. Go Chandra.
Veronica Stevens likewise ran her 3rd pb, and has lowered her times from 48:08 to 43:44, and targeting sub 43:00 next month.
Pam Kennedy ran her 2nd pb in this series, this go with a 19sec improvement, and having a positive impact on Dave, who likewise 2nd pb’d, this go by 2 secs.
Veronica and Pam were each recent recipients of the handicappers’ effort recognition awards for ‘their achieving’ across both the 3.5k and the 5k events, and have continued ‘to go it a go’. Great work ladies.
Nathan Mudie had a pb of 22:42 back in Feb’18. He has had plans to get fitter and run faster and further, ditto running in the 10k handicap. He lowered his pb into the 20s, and on Saturday powered home to cross the line 4th in 20:15, not far behind pb’ing Ben. Very well done Nate.
This event is not necessarily about the quickest. It really is about doing your best against yourself, ergo the pbs, and maybe then the others in your age categories.
There are 5 attachments to reflect the results.
