After a long illness, Greg Reid, a friend to so many runners at Bankstown Sports Athletics, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday evening. With him was his devoted wife, Lily, who had nursed Greg throughout his illness.

Until he became too unwell to run, Greg competed at the Crest every Tuesday evening for over twenty-five years and in most State Winter Championship events over this period. Greg was a committed and loyal member of BASC and won many State team medals including a Gold in a State Marathon team Greg was a member who was always willing to run twice at State Relays. As members of the club’s 70yrs and 80yrs teams know, the ever-cheerful Greg was a tough competitor who always gave it his best. Greg loved his running and in assisting running clubs. At the Marathon Clinic he was responsible for setting out the course each month for many years and he was heavily involved with Westies Joggers.

Greg will be very missed by many and our deepest thoughts are with Lily whose mother recently died.
